President of the Government announces that publication of reports issued by regional inspectorates becomes mandatory
The President of the Government announced today that the Government will present to the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of the Azores a proposal for the mandatory publication of the reports issued by the Regional Administration inspectorates.
"Until the end of the first half of the year, the Government will submit to this Assembly a proposal for a regional legislative decree establishing, as general rule, the publication of inspection reports," said Vasco Cordeiro at the plenary session in Horta.
The President of the Government spoke during the parliamentary debate on the report issued by the Regional Health Inspectorate on the ARRISCA institution.
"The exceptions to this situation will be defined in the regional legislative decree itself," said Vasco Cordeiro. Following a series of measures to increase transparency, Vasco Cordeiro defended that, on the Government's initiative, the publication of reports will become mandatory in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
One should recall that, in late 2017, the Council of the Government approved a Resolution that aims to initiate a regular and annual procedure for conducing external audits to the entities that have signed agreements, contracts or collaboration protocols that include the transfer of public resources.
On the other hand, the President of the Government denied that he had withdrawn his political confidence from the previous Regional Health Inspector. In this regard, he delivered a letter to the President of the Legislative Assembly to be distributed among all members. According to it, the Inspector himself stated his unavailability to remain in the position.
