President of the Government congratulates athletes who won national titles in Adapted Athletics
The President of the Government congratulated today the athletes who participated in the National Individual Adapted Athletics Championships that took place last week in Luso. They brought to the Azores a total of 24 national champion titles in various sports.
For Vasco Cordeiro, the brilliant performance of the athletes of ACM - Terceira Island and "Santa Casa da Misericórdia" of Vila do Porto - Santa Maria Island in "several competitions honoured the Autonomous Region of the Azores that was represented at the highest level in this important national competition."
In his congratulatory message, the President of the Government also conveyed his belief that the titles achieved this weekend "will serve as a source of motivation and inspiration for all Azorean athletes."
13 athletes of both institutions representing the Azores reached the podium in the National Individual ANDDI Championships. Overall, they scored a total of 24 first places, four second places and six third places in several sports and levels.
The winning athletes representing ACM are as follows: Ana Filipe, Tatiana Godinho, Melissa Cardoso, Ana Gomes, Carlos Lima, Márcia Lima, Adriana Nascimento, Nelson Tavares, António Espínola, Luís Pimentel and Jorge Lourenço. In turn, champions Liliana Sousa and Rui Tavares represented SCMVP.
