The President of the Regional Government participated in a healthy snack that gathered Corvo diabetic patients, an initiative organised by the local Health Unit to mark the World Health Day.
 
During the gathering, the Regional Secretary for Health accompanied Vasco Cordeiro in the initiative included in the Government's statutory visit to this island. The government official stressed that, through the close monitoring of patients by the local Health Unit as well as the adoption of healthy diet and exercise, this group of diabetic patients registers the best compliance rate with regard to the recommendations issued for this disease.
 
Hence, Luís Cabral stressed that "Corvo diabetic patients are an example to the entire Region and the country of how it is possible to live with the disease and limit its damages."
 
An initiative promoted by the World Health Organisation, the World Health Day is marked on April 7.
