The President of the Government opened in Ponta Delgada the headquarters of São José Choir, noting that the new facilities should be primarily regarded as an incentive for this musical association to continue its work of excellence and quality that is a source of pride for the Azores.
"The decision of the Government to transfer this space to the Musical Association - São José Choir, and the fact that it coincides with its 50th anniversary, should not be regarded as a prize and recognition of the path taken so far. It should be primarily regarded as an incentive to continue the path of excellence and quality," said Vasco Cordeiro.
In his speech, the President of the Government stressed that this work brings pride and prestige to the Region, which has led the Government of the Azores to redevelop and transfer the facilities located in the centre of Ponta Delgada to this cultural institution.
According to Vasco Cordeiro, the importance of the activity of institutions such as the Musical Association - São José Choir is synonymous with cultural and civic vitality, which should be increasingly strengthened and encouraged in the Azores.
"We should mark the difference and affirm ourselves, through a very wide range of cultural, sports and social associations that give shape to the Azorean society and distinguish us from other places," said the President of the Government.
"The third idea that I leave you is an idea for the future, Vasco Cordeiro added, considering that "50 years put on our shoulders the responsibility to honour and prestige this path."
"The best way to do this is to continue the cultivation of art, prestige and dignity that the São José Choir brings to the Azores," said the President of the Government.
