The President of the Government received in Ponta Delgada the Azores delegation of ANAFRE. The meeting was intended to promote an exchange of views on the main challenges that villages are facing.
"We have to increasingly strengthen our call to all levels of power, including local authorities, for the answers to major challenges of the Region, such as the qualification of human resources and employability," said Vasco Cordeiro.
At the end of the meeting with the heads of the Azores Delegation of the National Association of Villages, the President of the Government highlighted the existing cooperation arrangements with local authorities, which have contributed to the improvement of technical capacities and resources.
"Bearing in mind this dynamics, we are collaborating with local authorities so that, through our joint efforts, it will be possible to quickly solve some issues related to the development of our communities," said the government official.
Speaking to journalists, Vasco Cordeiro highlighted that "at a time when we are talking about the transfer of powers to local authorities, we must not forget the existence of a level of regional power in Autonomous Regions - the self-government bodies - at legislative and executive level."
"This aspect should be taken into consideration and highlighted during the process ongoing nationwide," the President of the Government said, expressing his belief that "these matters are being handled with all care and attention."
