The President of the Government received the Commander of the Azores Territorial Command of the National Republican Guard (GNR). Vasco Cordeiro took the opportunity to highlight the contribution of GNR to the "good balance" between human activity and the protection of the environment in the Region.
 
"The Government of the Azores considered that, within the powers held by GNR, the environmental component is very important. In this regard, he highlighted the role of GNR as an ally in the Region to defend one of its main assets," said Vasco Cordeiro.
 
After the audience with Colonel Armando José Soares da Costa, held in Ponta Delgada, the President of the Government stressed that this matter "gains particular relevance and visibility at a time when the efforts undertaken to enhance air accessibility in the Region have resulted in the increase of visitors" to various islands.
 
Vasco Cordeiro stressed that the Government of the Azores has very clear guidelines regarding the process of achieving a "good balance between human activity and the environment."
