President of the Government received Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies
The President of the Government, Vasco Cordeiro, highlighted today the impact of hosting the National Congress of APAVT - Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies on the projection of the Azores destination. The event will be held in the Region at the end of November.
"The hosting of this APAVT Congress is also a demonstration of what the Azores are doing in tourism," said Vasco Cordeiro after receiving the President of this organisation, Pedro Costa Ferreira, in Ponta Delgada.
Speaking to journalists, the President of the Government considered that this Congress will be a "very important moment of reflection, debate and analysis" on the challenges of the growth of this sector, both nationally and regionally.
After the hearing, Vasco Cordeiro stated that this will be a perfect moment to analyse the issues that the Region has to address in face of the growth occurred in tourism, namely the strong commitment that has been made in matters related to sustainability.
"In fact, this is also a way of inducing changes in perspective from quantity to quality and generation of added value," the President of the Government said, recalling that the Government is developing the certification process of the Azores as sustainable destination.
