The President of the Government received today in Ponta Delgada the Commander of the Azores Air Zone, Brigadier General João Pereira, at an audience for the exchange of greetings.
At this meeting held at Santana Palace, Vasco Cordeiro conveyed to Brigadier-General João Pereira the Azorean Government's recognition for the dedication and professionalism of the Air Force military in carrying out their mission in the Region.
Vasco Cordeiro highlighted, within the scope of this mission, the search and rescue operations at sea as well as medical evacuation operations between the archipelago and the mainland, which greatly contribute to the safety and well-being of the Azorean population.
Brigadier-General João Pereira took office as Commander of the Azores Air Zone on January 31, replacing Brigadier-General Eduardo Albuquerque Faria.
