The President of the Government of the Azores received today the new Operational Commander of the Azores, Vice Admiral Edgar Marcos de Bastos Ribeiro, at an audience in Ponta Delgada for the exchange of greetings.
During the meeting held at Santana Palace, Vasco Cordeiro conveyed to Vice Admiral Edgar Marcos de Bastos Ribeiro the Regional Government's interest to strengthen the cooperation with the Armed Forces. On the occasion, he stressed the availability of the Army, Navy and Air Force in participating in joint Civil Protection drills as well as in emergency situations and assistance to populations.
Vice Admiral Edgar Marcos de Bastos Ribeiro, who served as Commander of the Military University Institute, took office as Operational Commander of the Azores (COA) in late March.
