President of the Government visits works to improve operating conditions of Corvo Aerodrome
The President of the Regional Government visited today the resurfacing works of the runway and apron of Corvo Aerodrome, an investment of two million Euros that is part of an investment plan aimed at improving air accessibility in the Region.
"From the standpoint of air accessibility, this investment falls within a series of other investments that have been or are being carried out on several islands, namely on Graciosa, Pico, São Jorge and Terceira, which amount to more than 20 million Euros," said Vasco Cordeiro.
According to the President of the Government, who spoke at the beginning of the Regional Government's statutory visit to Corvo Island, the purpose of these investments is to ensure a "better service, enhanced safety and improved accessibility for Azoreans."
Speaking to journalists, Vasco Cordeiro also stated that the ongoing works at Corvo Aerodrome includes, among other interventions, the resurfacing of the entire runway and the grooving of the runway pavement, which will improve the safety conditions of the runway on rainy weather.
"This intervention will result in less cancellations and the provision of better service with enhanced safety conditions," stressed Vasco Cordeiro.
