The President of the Government informed the Legislative Assembly that Olga Maria Martins de Freitas was appointed to chair the Board of Directors of Santo Espírito Hospital on Terceira Island.
Between 2007 and 2008, Olga Maria Martins de Freitas concluded a MBA in Health Management Organisations (3rd Cycle) at the Institute of Labour and Business Sciences of the Lisbon University Institute. She graduated in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon.
She headed the Pulmonology Service and was Team Leader at the General Emergency Department of Santo Espírito Hospital. She also held the position of Regional Coordinator of the Health Plan of the Autonomous Region of the Azores with regard to the respiratory area.
She has been a member of the local Organising Commission of the Pulmonology Days - General Practice in the Azores and Mainland Portugal since 2004. From May 2011 to March 2013, she joined the National Programme for the Fight Against Tuberculosis as coordinator for the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
The appointment of Olga Freitas at the Parliament falls under the legislation establishing the prior hearing of the nominees for the presidency of public companies by the Legislative Assembly before their appointment.
