Regional Government begins Wednesday the statutory visit to Graciosa, where Vasco Cordeiro, among other initiatives, will open the new Aerodrome Control Tower and the Graciólica renewable energy project, and preside over the launch of a wine brand produced by Graciosa Winery and Agricultural Cooperative.
During the visit, the members of the Regional Government will be available, as usual, to receive the local citizens who wish to pose their questions directly to them. This initiative intends to strengthen the proximity to Azorean citizens and has been implemented in all statutory visits since the beginning of the previous legislative term.
On Wednesday morning, shortly after arriving on the island, Vasco Cordeiro presides over the opening ceremony of the new Control Tower at Graciosa Aerodrome, an investment of about 1.4 million Euros. This event will be followed by a ceremony marking the launch of "Pedras Brancas 2018" wine certified as Designation of Origin (DO) at the premises of the Winery and Agricultural Cooperative; its production reached 5,000 bottles.
During the afternoon, the President of the Government will deliver ABC Course diplomas and English course certificates at a ceremony that also marks the opening of a new course for the Recognition, Validation and Certification of Skills promoted by the "Valorizar" Network.
Vasco Cordeiro will then meet with the Mayor of Santa Cruz da Graciosa, Manuel Avelar, ending the first day with the meeting of the Regional Government with the Island Council.
The President of the Government begins the second day of this statutory visit with the opening of the Graciólica project, an investment of more than 22 million Euros in the area of renewable energy that introduces innovative features at European level. He will then participate in an event marking the World Day of Social Justice.
The opening of the improvement project for Canada da Serra Forest Road, which will improve the access to 32 hectares of pasture land and 39 hectares of vacant land, and the delivery of diplomas to fishers who attended the Radio Operator Course in GMDSS - Global Maritime Distress and Safety System are also part of the visit's programme for the morning.
In the afternoon, Vasco Cordeiro visits the works under way in Praia wall and participates in an Intergenerational Carnival Celebration, an initiative promoted by the Santa Cruz da Graciosa City Council involving the participation of elderly people and children. The day will end with the meeting of the Council of the Government.
The programme of the statutory visit to Graciosa, as usual, also includes visits by members of the Government to ongoing investments on the island as well as meetings with various local entities.
The opening of Carapacho Viewpoint and a charging station for electric vehicles, the presentation of the second phase of the "Quinta Mágica" project as well as the redevelopment projects for Largo 1.º de Dezembro square in Luz and Pavão Agricultural Road within the Agrarian Planning Perimeter (POA) of Santa Cruz-Guadalupe are some of the initiatives included in the programme of this statutory visit. Moreover, it will also include the launch of a Study on the Prevalence of Fibromyalgia in the Azores and the signing of an agreement with Nossa Senhora da Luz Parish Centre for the acquisition of a vehicle under the Solidarity in Movement programme.
