Vasco Cordeiro announces "Export Açores" measure to boost exports of regional companies
The President of the Government visited today the Azorean companies featured at SISAB Portugal 2019 - International Trade Fair for Portuguese Food and Beverage taking place in Lisbon. On the occasion, he announced the creation of the "Export Açores" measure under the scope of the strategic goal of boosting regional exports.
"The Government will soon launch the 'Export Açores' measure. It is primarily intended to introduce Azorean products into one of the major commerce platforms of today: e-commerce," said Vasco Cordeiro. He spoke after visiting the 30 regional companies represented in this event, where he was accompanied by the Vice-President of the Government, Sérgio Ávila.
According to Vasco Cordeiro, this new measure will support Azorean entrepreneurs as far as it responds to the current needs of the global market. It aims to encourage marketing projects for their products and services as well as the development and implementation of export and internationalisation plans.
"In fact, it serves a very simple goal: to export more because it will create more jobs in the Azores," stressed the President of the Government. According to him, the presence of these companies at SISAB is an incredibly positive sign of confidence and future prospects regarding the Region's export capacity, thus reflecting the economic environment in the Azores.
In this context and within the scope of Competir+ incentive system, "we are already reaching 480 million Euros of private investment and 1,100 investment projects already submitted," stressed Vasco Cordeiro.
"It is interesting to note that our economy has managed to export more as there has been an increasing response capacity in terms of logistics. Nevertheless, there are challenges to be overcome if we want to move to next phase and we will be here for this," said the President of the Government.
Vasco Cordeiro highlighted, on the other hand, the meaning of the Azores Brand for each of the entrepreneurs who have joined it and its growing projection, ensuring that this dynamics will be maintained to benefit Azorean entrepreneurs and the regional economy.
The Azores are participating with their own stand at SISAB that features companies representing various sectors of activity with export potential, including dairy products, meat processing, liqueurs, wines, fish, canned fish, traditional confectionery, honey and other agri-food products.
SISAB Portugal is the largest annual platform for leading companies and entrepreneurs in the export sector, where national companies can find the most relevant food industry importers from the five continents.
The presence of regional companies at SISAB Portugal is an initiative of the Vice-Presidency of the Government, through SDEA - Society for Business Development of the Azores, in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Azores.
