Vasco Cordeiro continues round of contacts on Corvo Island for resumption of economic activity in the Region
The President of the Government continues his round of contacts on the island of Corvo this Wednesday for the resumption of economic activity in the Region, following the first phase of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
During this visit, Vasco Cordeiro met with the Mayor of Corvo, José Silva. The meeting was an opportunity for an exchange of views "regarding the future" of this island, which was one of the three islands that did not register any case of infection with the novel coronavirus.
"It was a very useful meeting to assess what needs to be done in a context of mobilisation and unity, so that we can overcome, as we have overcome the first phase of the fight against the pandemic, the challenge of economic recovery, employment creation and wealth generation," said the President of the Government.
After recalling that Corvo was one of the first islands to ease the confinement measures, together with Flores and Santa Maria, Vasco Cordeiro stressed that the contacts taking place on all islands are aimed at the "resumption, with confidence, of the economic and development path" followed by the Region that was disturbed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The President of the Government recalled that the process of lifting the restrictions implemented in recent months requires, nevertheless, the "care and precaution" that must be taken in view of the current situation.
In the last few weeks, Vasco Cordeiro began a round of visits and meetings to address areas such as education, fisheries, agriculture, tourism, the economy and employment.
On Tuesday, the President of the Government visited the island of Terceira, where he met with the Mayors of Angra do Heroísmo and Praia da Vitória, and will visit the island of Flores on Thursday.
Vasco Cordeiro will then travel to the other islands of the archipelago, where this round of contacts and visits will continue.
