Vasco Cordeiro highlights impact of works in the areas of Education, Health and Maritime Transport on Flores Island
The President of the Regional Government highlighted in Santa Cruz the impact of ongoing works in areas fundamental to the development of the island, such as education, health and maritime accessibility.
"There are ongoing works in these fundamental areas, such as education, health and transport, and we believe that it will contribute to a significant improvement in the economy of the Flores and in the life of the local population," said Vasco Cordeiro.
The President of the Government spoke Monday after the meeting with the Island Council, held at the end of the first day of the Regional Government's visit to the island of Flores. According to him, the works underway in these three areas represent a global investment over 11 million Euros.
In the area of health, Vasco Cordeiro highlighted the rehabilitation of the Santa Cruz Health Centre, which serves the island of Flores, an investment of about 1.5 million Euros. This interventions will solve several issues, including physical therapy services, reorganisation of spaces, greater convenience and increased quality of service to patients.
As for the education sector, the President of the Government recalled that the refurbishment works of Padre Mauricio de Freitas School is being carried out in Santa Cruz das Flores, while, in the area of maritime transport, the Poças Port is being renovated in Santa Cruz da Flores; the latter will have a positive impact on the maritime transport of passengers.
