The President of the Government highlighted today the role of the Azores as a point of connection between several countries and continents. This privileged geographic position should be also leveraged to host more and larger private events.
Vasco Cordeiro spoke at the opening session of WorldConexx 2018, an international conference promoted by GlobeStar Systems - Connexall that is taking place on São Miguel Island until June 6.
"This is another example of what the Azores represent - and may represent even more - on a global scale. They are a meeting point between several countries and several continents that honous their history and geographical position by hosting this type of events," said the President of the Government.
After noting that the Azores have become the "gateway to Europe," Vasco Cordeiro also considered this meeting very useful, not only for the company promoting it but also for the discussion of major issues that health services currently face.
"One of the major challenges countries and governments around the world face in this area concern the importance of establishing the best possible link between the growing needs of health systems and how new technologies may respond to these needs," said the government official.
In his speech, the President of the Government also highlighted the ties of GlobeStar Systems founder and CEO, David Tavares, to the Azores. "Despite having left early for other places, particularly Canada, he has never forgotten his island of São Miguel."
Founded in 1992 by David Tavares, Connexall has offices in Canada, the United States, Brazil, Hong Kong and Portugal. It operates in more than 1,000 hospitals and healthcare systems around the world.
