Vasco Cordeiro met with Investment Fund that will conclude Hotel Casino and Hotel das Furnas SPA
The President of the Government of the Azores met with the representatives of Fundo Discovery. The meeting addressed the conditions presented by the Regional Government for the completion works and the entry into operation of Hotel-Casino, Pêro de Teive Shopping Centre and Hotel das Furnas SPA.
This audience took place on Thursday, which also marked the beginning of the 75-day period stipulated by the Government for the signing of a purchase agreement, through which Fundo Discovery will assume shareholder responsibilities at ASTA.
On the same day, Vasco Cordeiro granted an audience to the Mayor of Ponta Delgada City Hall and to the Movement "Queremos a Calheta de Volta" (We want Calheta back). At these meetings, the Government addressed the conditions that were stipulated for this process, following the court decision that approved the Special Recovery Plan for ASTA Atlântida.
When the agreement will be formalised, Fundo Discovery will have a deadline of 18 months to conclude the works of Hotel Casino and Calheta Tourism Office and make them operational. In turn, the entry into operation of the Hotel das Furnas SPA has a deadline of six months.
Speaking to journalists, Vasco Cordeiro highlighted the confidence of Fundo Discovery in the concerned projects as well as in the future of Azores Tourism and the regional economy.
After the meeting with the Mayor of Ponta Delgada City Hall, Vasco Cordeiro also stressed the work that has been developed by the Government of the Azores. It was able to find a solution for the completion of the works and the entry into operation of these undertakings.
Accordingly, the President of the Government added that the conditions presented by the Government are primarily intended to ensure the reformulation of the project for the Pêro de Teive Shopping Centre in order to reduce its volume and create spaces for the enjoyment of the population.
"I had the opportunity of conveying to the Mayor the position defended by the Regional Government and the progress of the situation," Vasco Cordeiro stated, adding that he also discussed the development of this process with the Movement "Queremos a Calheta de Volta."
