The President of the Government of the Azores, Vasco Cordeiro, attends the 40th meeting of the Permanent Bilateral Commission between Portugal and the United States of America, which will take place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lisbon next Tuesday, December 18.
The meeting's agenda will focus on the analysis of matters concerning the Lajes Air Base process, namely those related to the environment, labour and infrastructures.
Additionally, the cooperation with the Azores in various fields will be assessed under the Cooperation and Defence Agreement signed between Portugal and the United States of America.
The Tuesday's meeting will be the ninth meeting attended by the President of the Government of the Azores since the United States' announced the reduction of its military and civil personnel at Terceira air base" at the end of 2012.
The last meeting of the Permanent Bilateral Commission, established under the Cooperation and Defence Agreement, was held in Washington in late May.
