The President of the Government highlighted the organisation of the 35th CIRCOM Annual Conference, a meeting of European regional television stations that takes place on São Miguel Island on Thursday and Friday.
 
"It is a pleasure to host this event, not only because this is a way to make our Region known in Europe, but also because there is a strong awareness in the Azores regarding the importance that a media body such as RTP has brought over time and still brings to the strengthening and promotion of regional identity," said Vasco Cordeiro.
 
After receiving, in audience, CIRCOM officials and the CEO of RTP, Vasco Cordeiro emphasised the role that the public television and radio play in bringing the different islands of the archipelago closer as well as in increasing the proximity of the archipelago to the Azorean communities spread throughout the world.
 
"In addition to welcoming the Autonomous Region of the Azores, I would like to note how very positive this choice is and the work carried out by RTP in order to ensure that this conference, which has the support of the Government of the Azores, would take in the Region," stressed the President of the Government.
 
The CIRCOM Annual Conference 2017 will bring together 150 delegates from more than 30 countries in Ponta Delgada, who will discuss the current and future challenges of regional television in Europe.
