The President of the Regional Government, Vasco Cordeiro, will attend the 41st meeting of the meeting of the Permanent Bilateral Commission between Portugal and the United States of America to take place next Wednesday in Washington.
The agenda of the meeting between the Portuguese and US delegations will focus on the analysis of matters concerning the Lajes Air Base process, namely those related to the environment, labour and infrastructures.
Additionally, the US cooperation with the Azores in various fields will be assessed under the Cooperation and Defence Agreement signed between Portugal and the United States of America.
Next Wednesday's meeting will be the tenth attended by the President of the Regional Government since the United States of America announced the reduction of its military and civil personnel at Terceira air base" in late 2012.
The last meeting of the Permanent Bilateral Commission, established under the Cooperation and Defence Agreement, took place in Lisbon in December 2018.
