The President of the Government of the Azores will hold several meetings with the European Commissioners responsible for the areas of Regional Development, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Research, Science and Innovation on Tuesday and Wednesday.

These are the first meetings between Vasco Cordeiro and the new Commissioners, who entered into office on November 1 of last year, led by the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker.

The President of the Government was elected in 2014 as President of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR), an interregional cooperation organisation that comprises 150 regions from 28 European States, congregating 200 million citizens.

In the context of his trip to Brussels, Vasco Cordeiro will meet Tuesday with the European Commissioner for Regional Development, Corina Cretu. On the following day, he has scheduled meetings with the European Commissioner for the Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and the European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, Carlos Moedas.
