Vasco Cordeiro to meet with Macron, Rajoy and Costa to discuss upcoming Community funds
The President of the Government of the Azores will meet in Brussels with the President of France, the President of the Government of Spain and the Prime Minister of Portugal. The meeting, scheduled for Friday, March 23, will mark the formal delivery of the Outermost Regions' positions on the Multiannual Financial Framework for the period after 2020.
Vasco Cordeiro takes part in the meeting with the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, the President of the Government of Spain, Mariano Rajoy, and the Prime Minister of Portugal, António Costa, in the context of the Conference of Presidents of the Outermost Regions of Europe, currently chaired by the Canary Islands.
At the meeting, which will take place Friday morning, the Presidents of the ORs will deliver to the French Head of State and to the Heads of the Governments of Portugal and Spain a formal Statement on the Multiannual Financial Framework after 2020, whereas the European Commission intends to present it proposal for the next Community Budget in May.
In this Declaration, the Presidents of the ORs defend, among other goals, an ambitious Cohesion Policy with the necessary financial resources to achieve its objectives as well as Fisheries and Agriculture policies that will serve the interests of these regions in the post-2020 period.
