Government of the Azores creates Agrarian Development Services Office in the municipality of Praia da Vitória
The Regional Director for Agriculture and Rural Development, Fátima Amorim, stated that the Agrarian Development Services office that opened on Sunday in Praia da Vitória provides a proximity response that is in line with claims of local farmers.
Fátima Amorim spoke at the opening ceremony of the office, which is located in Cabo da Praia. This village comprises an ocean port, an industrial park and the island's slaughter house. It is also an area where animal husbandry is widely practiced.
The office will enter into operation on Monday, September 1. According to the Regional Director, it will provide "a set of services that are essential" to the daily activities of farmers, including the registration of bovine animals, the issuing of passports, stock declaration of sheep/goats, pigs and poultry, identification of beneficiaries, opening and closing of farms, updating of agricultural parcels, animal ear tags, and the respective identification models.
Fátima Amorim also announced that, starting on Monday, Terceira’s farmers may update at this office the application for the tax benefit on agricultural diesel, following the publication of legislation allowing the eligibility of some light vehicles that are "exclusively used in agricultural activities."
The application period for the registration of male bovine animals to the premium granted under the POSEI programme will be open at this office, starting on Monday.
