Milk Recording evidences higher quality production, says Regional Director for Agriculture
The Regional Director for Agriculture stated in São Roque do Pico that Milk Recording "demonstrates" that "we are producing with quality and we have evidence of that."
"The Government of the Azores is, as always, committed to continue innovating and, in the case of Milk Recording, is working to provide farmers with milk recording reports containing the results of further analyses," said Fernando Sousa, who spoke at the Pico Island Agricultural Association.
The Regional Director spoke on the sidelines of the delivery ceremony of the Milk Recording Books to local producers. According to him, this is "a very important tool in the management of farms as well as in genetic improvement programmes that producers define for their farm; it is developed in partnership with agricultural associations.
Milk Recording consists of evaluating the quantity and quality of milk produced by each animal of a farm for successive lactation periods.
The milk recording service uses methods and means approved nationally and internationally, being an essential tool in the economic management of farms.
