Regional Government promotes information sessions on integrated rodent control on all islands
The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forestry, through the Regional Directorate for Agriculture, will organise information sessions on integrated rodent control on all islands of the archipelago, which will be open to the community in general.
The first session will be held Monday, February 26, at 10:00 AM at Lagoa City Hall building on the island of São Miguel.
With an approximate duration of two hours, the sessions taking place on São Miguel Island count on the participation of the veterinary from the Regional Directorate for Agriculture, Sofia Borrego.
This initiative intends to explain concepts, the importance of controlling rodent species and the actions to be adopted.
For an effective and lasting control of rodents, it is necessary to apply a series of measures directed not only to rodents, but also to the environment. This requires a coordinated action between the Regional Government, local authorities and the population in general.
Also in February, there will be another two information sessions on integrated rodent control in the municipalities of Ribeira Grande on February 27 and in the municipality of Nordeste on February 28.
There are also scheduled sessions in Ponta Delgada on March 1, Vila Franca do Campo on March 2 and in Povoação on March 5.
As for the remaining islands, the scheduling and places for the information sessions are still being defined in close coordination with Municipal Councils.
