Anabela Isidro, graduated in Forestry Engineering from the Agrarian School of Coimbra, has been the Regional Director for Forest Resources since March 2010.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in Forestry Engineering from the Agrarian School of Coimbra completed on July 22, 2002, with a final mark of 14.
Bachelor’s degree in Forest Operations Engineering from the Agrarian School of Coimbra completed on September 9, 1994, with a final average of 14.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
She started her career at the Mira Forest Administration in June she worked until 1993.
She collaborated in the 1989 General Agricultural Census through the Regional Directorate of Agriculture of Beira Litoral.
In 1994, she undertook a traineeship at the Nature Conservation Institute, Dunas de S. Jacinto Forest Reserve, being responsible for the organisation and viability of the forest nursery of that Reserve.
In the same year, she also worked for the company J. Serra Ramos in the area of forest inventory.
Also in 1994, she participated in a 2-week trip to the Republic of Guinea-Bissau with a group of students and teachers from the Agrarian School of Coimbra to carry out a forest inventory at two logging concessions. She also collaborated in the seminar to present the results of the works.
She was hired for the position of intern technician at the Regional Directorate for Forest Resources - Ponta Delgada Forest Services – São Miguel Forest Administration (Official Journal, II Series, no. 27 of July 4, 2005), starting her duties on May 1, 1995. She completed her internship on May 1, 1996.
She became Level 2 Technician by order of the Head of Cabinet of the Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Fisheries on July 7, 2003.
She was appointed to the position of Head of Division of the Nordeste Forest Services with immediate effect from February 1, 2008.
As Head of Division of the Nordeste Forest Services, her action focused on research works in the area of plant breeding, data collection and processing. She collaborated in the preparation and presentation of the results, in the form of oral presentation and posters, at conferences, seminars and symposiums on forestry.
With regard to the Recreational Forest Reserves, she fostered the development of the pilot project of the Natural Camping Park of Água Retorta Recreational Forest Reserve and the permanent downhill trail of Água Retorta and Pedreira Forest Reserves.
She also supervised the renewal works of several rural and forest roads as well as the recovery of potential vegetation in the areas affected by the works through hydroseeding and endemic species.

PARTICIPATION IN PROJECTS/RELEVANT ACTIVITIES
She chaired the Self-Assessment team of the Common Assessment Framework of the Nordeste Forest Service.
She was appointed to the Joint Coordination Commission for the Revision of the Nordeste Municipal Master Plan, on behalf of the DRRF, by order of the Regional Secretary for Forest Resources on September 3, 2007.
She monitored the Azores Bullfinch Life Project – Azores Bullfinch habitat recovery in the Pico da Vara/Ribeira do Guilherme special protection area and the Sustainable Life Laurel Project promoted by SPEA – Portuguese Society for the Study of Birds.
She introduced innovative techniques in the production of endemic species, including the experimentation of different hydroponics systems, which were presented at an oral presentation titled “Hydroponic nursery in Azores endemic species – Prunus Azorica” under the International Scientific Conference “Innovation and new horizons in tree nursery stock production and forest restoration – from research to business,” an event promoted by IUFRO in Rome, Italy, on March 12, 2009.
