Regional Government invests nearly 244 thousand Euros in works to improve rural road in municipality of Ponta Delgada
The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forestry, through the Regional Directorate for Forest Resources, published today the opening notice on the public tender for improvement works in Cemetery Rural Road, located in the municipality of Ponta Delgada, in the Official Journal. The works have an estimated budget of 244 thousand Euros.
The Cemetery Rural Road covers an extension of about 670 metres, stretching over an agroforestry area consisting of 21.61 hectares of pastures and 6.88 hectares of forest. Currently, it provides access to four farms.
This intervention includes the paving of the road with concrete and the construction of a drainage system made up of ditches, drainage boxes and rainwater discharge boxes.
Given its importance for the agricultural and forestry sector, the project for the improvement of Cemetery rural road was commissioned early this year with a view to improving the pavement conditions and installing drainage infrastructures.
For the Regional Government, the most important thing is to fulfil commitments and to strive for the development, safety and modernisation of the agricultural and forestry sectors, regardless the size of the work or the island where it is carried out.
In 2018, the Regional Government invests more than three million Euros in agricultural and forest roads on the island of São Miguel with the aim of improving the access to farms, thus facilitating the lives of farmers.
