The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forestry, through the Regional Directorate for Forest Resources, published in the Official Journal the public tender for the repaving of Ramada Forest Road on Terceira Island. The contract work has a base price of 166 thousand Euros.
With an extension of about 2,014 metres, this road is located in the villages of Cinco Ribeiras and Santa Bárbara in the municipality of Angra do Heroísmo.
The Regional Directorate for Forest Resources will improve the access conditions to about 18 farmers, who own about 40 hectares of pastureland and 17 hectares of private pastures. It will also improve the access to about 7 hectares of forest areas located within the Terceira Island Forest Perimeter.
Moreover, the intervention will provide better access to the island's central zone and to several village centres, which benefit both locals and tourists, without forgetting the accessibility to the Recreational Forest Reserves managed by Terceira Forest Service.
Interested companies interested may submit their proposals until 4 PM (local time) until July 5.
The Terceira Forest Service is responsible for the annual maintenance and improvement of more than 100 kilometres of rural and forest roads within its area of jurisdiction, a road network that totals more than 200 kilometres.
This year, the Government plans to invest more than half a million Euros in agricultural roads on the island of Terceira, through IROA, focusing on the construction/improvement of Mal Farto and Ginjal roads, among others.
