Government of the Azores authorises opening of the international public tender for the construction of the Slaughterhouse on Faial
The Resolution of the Council of the Government authorising the opening of an international public render the construction of the Slaughterhouse on Faial was authorised in the Official Journal today. The contract work has a base price of 5.5 million Euros.
With a completion period of 18 months, the tender will be opened next week by the Institute of Food and Agricultural Markets (IAMA).
In addition to the slaughter process, the new slaughterhouse to be built on Faial will also have a space for the preparation of carcasses. The contract work includes a project for a cutting room, a wastewater treatment plant and a preparation and storage unit for by-products and leftovers.
This investment falls within the Government's strategy to continuously improve the Regional Network of Slaughterhouses, thus fulfilling the commitment to provide all islands with infrastructures that will boost the meat sector.
In order to conclude the Regional Network of Slaughterhouses, the Government of the Azores will launch the public tender for the construction of a slaughterhouse on Graciosa, in addition to the planned investments for the slaughterhouses of Terceira and S. Miguel.
