Government of the Azores launches tender for improvement works of Terceira Slaughterhouse
The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and the Environment, through the Institute for Food and Agricultural Markets (IAMA), has launched the contract work for the improvement of Terceira Slaughterhouse with a base price of 1.8 million Euros and a completion period of 10 months.
The contract work, whose announcement procedure was published Friday in the Official Gazette, includes the improvement of the stable and the construction of two cold rooms.
This work falls within the policies developed by the Azorean Government to revitalise the production of tradable goods and increase the Region's export capacity, through the consolidation of meat cutting, processing and preparation infrastructures, and the enhancement of meat products.
In this context, the Government is carrying out public investments in regional slaughtering infrastructures with the aim of ensuring high levels of food quality and safety, which will generate added value from the preparation and processing of carcasses.
