The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and the Environment, through IROA, has opened a public tender with a budget of 260 thousand Euros for the construction of Erva Má Road in the Agricultural Planning perimeter (POA) of the Ponta Delgada Dairy Basin, São Miguel Island.
Included in the Regional Public Works Charter, the contract work has a completion period of 180 days and is of significant importance for agricultural activity in the municipality of Ponta Delgada. It will benefit the accessibilities of about two dozen farms in a total area of 35 hectares.
Covering a distance of 1.43 kilometres, the intervention will improve the network of agricultural roads in the POA, which already has a total extension of 90 kilometres.
The project includes the paving of cement concrete, the repair and improvement of the drainage system and the completion of the water network in order to provide this road with a more effective rainwater collection system.
This work falls within the policy to reinforce support infrastructures to agricultural activity pursued by the Government of the Azores in order to contribute to the competitiveness of the regional production by reducing operating costs as well as to improve working conditions and safety of farmers.
