Azorean Government invests 184 thousand Euros in resurfacing of agricultural roads on São Miguel
The Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Forestry, João Ponte, signed a contract Tuesday to supply of bituminous mixes for the resurfacing of agricultural roads on the island of São Miguel, a global investment of 184 thousand Euros.
Overall, the intervention covers eight agricultural roads in the municipalities of the Nordeste, Povoação and Ribeira Grande.
The works to be carried out, which were already identified by the Regional Directorate for Forest Resources, meet the expectations of farmers and agricultural associations on the island of São Miguel.
This investment aims to improve traffic conditions and safety on these roads, which in addition to farmers, are increasingly used by tourists.
Hence, the Regional Government also contributes to boosting the competitiveness of farms located along the roads that will be benefited.
The Government will invest this year 6.2 million Euros in the improvement of accessibility throughout the Region in order to ensure the access to farms, thus facilitating the lives of farmers.
