Ninety percent of visitors to the Capelinhos Volcano Interpretation Centre (CIVC) considered that the centre and the services provided are of high quality.
This conclusion emerges from the analysis of the satisfaction surveys conducted at this interpretation centre located in Faial Natural Park. The survey is part of a wider quality control process that is carried out on a daily basis during the period when the centre is highly sought-after by visitors.
One should recall that this Interpretation Centre is the most visited in the Autonomous Region of the Azores, with an annual average well above twenty thousand visitors.
The analysis of the surveys conducted between July 1 and August 30 evidence that with regard to the criterion "service quality," 95% of respondents considered the services to be of high quality, 5% considered fair and 0% considered poor/bad.
Moreover, the following criteria were also analysed in the 512 surveys collected: "organisation of space," "contents," "guided tour," "shop," "ticket office," "cafeteria," "visiting hours," "prices," "waiting time" and "hygiene." The results evidence the degree of satisfaction with the services provided.
The Capelinhos Volcano Interpretation Centre was nominated last year in the category "Best Museum in Europe," having been subject to a rigorous analysis conducted by the jury that travelled to Faial in order to check the centre's quality. The distinction and selection to the final phase recognise the centre's quality, now evidenced by the surveys conducted.
It should be also noted that the CIVC decisively contributes to the tourism offer on Faial island, being one of the main infrastructures of Faial Natural Park. It was awarded the “EDEN distinction” - Destination of Excellence by the European Commission. This award also comprises the criteria "quality reception" and "service quality" provided at the various interpretation structures, including the support houses in Caldeira, Monte da Guia and Capelinhos Volcano, Whale Factory and Botanical Garden.
