Completion of works in Serroa and Preguiça roads improves access to about 90 farms on São Jorge
The investment of around 443 thousand Euros in the paving of Preguiça and Serroa secondary rural roads, located in the Agricultural Planning Perimeter (POA) of the West Zone of São Jorge Island, falls within the Regional Government's policies to reinforce rural infrastructures, which the Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Environment considered to be "structural."
"These are structural works" and correspond to the expectations of producers, said Luís Neto Viveiros. The government official spoke at the ceremony to mark the conclusion of these works carried out through IROA (Regional Institute of Agrarian Planning), benefiting nearly 90 farms in an area of 600 hectares of pasture.
Neto Viveiros reaffirmed the importance of investment in roads, electrification and water supply to boost the competitiveness of farms, through the reduction of operating costs, pointing out that both roads already benefit from water supply network and branches.
There is a metal reservoir under construction with capacity for 250 m3 to make the best use of Coroa and Chã springs. The work is being carried out in the Agricultural Planning Perimeter of the West Zone of S. Jorge Island in Santo Amaro, municipality of Velas.
