Government of the Azores awards contract work for the construction of Slaughterhouse on Faial
The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and the Environment, through IAMA (Institute of Food and Agricultural Markets) has awarded the contract work for the construction of the new Slaughterhouse on Faial to the company Marques, SA. With a base price of 5.2 million Euros, the work has a completion period of 18 months.
In addition to the slaughter process, the new slaughterhouse to be built on Faial will also have a space for the preparation of carcasses. The contract work includes a project for a cutting room, a wastewater treatment plant and a preparation and storage unit for by-products and leftovers.
This investment falls within the Government's strategy to continuously improve the Regional Network of Slaughterhouses, thus fulfilling the commitment to provide all islands with infrastructures that will boost the meat sector.
