The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and the Environment published today in the Official Journal the new legislation of POSEI, following the European Commission's approval of the amendment to the programme presented by the Azorean Government in September 2015.
It is important to note that the unit value of the dairy cow premium will be set at 190 Euros per cow on all islands.
With this measure included in a wider support project that will benefit more than 80 percent of the archipelago's milk producers, the Government of the Azores aims to mitigate the difficulties they currently face as a result of the situation of the international scene.
The amendment also changes the minimum age for the payment of the slaughter premium for cattle from 8 to 7 months in order to meet the market demands for younger male bovine specimens.
While anticipating the age of slaughter by one month, the Government provides a response to the needs of dairy and dual-purpose farms that are not directed to steer raising and want to sell their animals earlier.
