Government provides educational textbook on "Water in the Azores" online and in book format
The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Environment, through the Regional Environment Directorate, will mark the World Water Day with the launch an educational textbook titled as "Water in the Azores" that will be available from today. It gathers information that can be easily consulted in clear and simple language.
The initiative is primarily intended to raise awareness for the issue of water scarcity and the environmental resulting thereof as well as to the promotion of sustainable attitudes deemed necessary to reduce the impact on water quality and the degradation of water resources.
This publication, which is specifically directed to children and youngsters, will be distributed in book format to all regional Basic Education Schools.

Established by the UN in 1992, the World Water is celebrated on March 22 with the aim of debating the issues related to this important natural asset. This year, the United National proposed for reflection the theme on "Water and Sustainable Development."
