Luís Neto Viveiros highlights "harmonisation" of efforts to promote internalisation of Azorean products
The Regional Secretary for Natural Resources highlighted today the initiatives developed towards the "harmonisation of efforts undertaken by the Azores and the Portuguese Government" in order to "improve the marketing" of regional products abroad.
Speaking at the end of a meeting held with the Secretary of State of Food and Agri-food Research, Nuno Brito, in Angra do Heroísmo, Luís Neto Viveiros said the "expectations are good" regarding the Chinese market, adding that the contacts have initiated, particularly through Lactaçores.
"We have products of interest to China and right now we are currently discussing aspects concerning negotiations, logistics and prices in order to establish another channel for the marketing of Azorean products," especially dairy products, stressed Luís Neto Viveiros.
The Regional Secretary for Natural Resources noted that the export potential of regional products will be analysed with Azorean companies during the two-day working visit of the Secretary of State to the Azores.
"We will assess these potentialities and, in conjunction with the companies we will visit today and tomorrow, we will be able to identify these market [exports] and circuits with the aim of finding "alternative markets to the traditional ones," stated Luís Neto Viveiros to journalists.
Questioned on the possible transport difficulties, Luís Neto Viveiros said the Government of the Azores will "naturally" evaluate logistics solutions for businesses established in "distant markets."
