The Regional Secretary for Agriculture and the Environment stated that the construction of Erva Má and Castelo Branco agricultural roads, opened today, improve the access to nearly fifty farms on São Miguel Island.
Luís Neto Viveiros stressed that these investments fall under the Regional Government's policy to "invest in infrastructures to support agricultural activities." In this regard, he highlighted their "relevance" in improving the living conditions and performance of farmers, but, above all, "in improving the competitiveness of their farms" through cost reduction.
The Erva Má Road, located in the Agricultural Planning Perimeter (POA) of Ponta Delgada Milk Basin, will improve an area with an extension of 35 hectares and represents a public investment of nearly 260 thousand Euros. In turn, the Castelo Branco Road, located in the Agricultural Planning Perimeter of Lagoa, covers an area of 20 hectares of pastures and represents an investment of 70 thousand Euros.
Included in the Regional Public Works Charter, these contract works included the paving and the improvement of the drainage system.
