The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forestry announced today that the 5th Monitoring Committee of the Rural Development Program of the Autonomous Region of the Azores 2014-2020 will meet on the island of Santa Maria on June 17 to analyse and approve the annual report on the PRORURAL+ in 2018.
At this meeting, which will be attended by the Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Forestry, João Ponte, the opening session will also analyse the implementation of PRORURAL+ until April 30, a programme directly managed by the Regional Directorate for Rural Development.
From the beginning of PRORURAL+ until the end of 2018, 12,149 projects were approved in different measures and sub-measures, corresponding to a proposed investment of 411 million Euros.
These indicators are clear signs of the confidence of the different stakeholders in the agricultural, forestry and rural development sectors. With investments in the most diverse areas, they have boosted the development and economic growth of the primary sector as well as of regional economy.
The programme of this meeting also includes visits to projects approved under PRORURAL+.
This Monitoring Committee is composed of representatives of the European Commission, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Regional Government, the Azores Agricultural Federation, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Azores, the Association of Municipalities of the Autonomous Region of the Azores and environmental associations, among other entities.
