Regional Government approves first financial support to farmers affected by Hurricane Lorenzo
The Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Forestry, João Ponte, signed today the first ordinances granting extraordinary financial support to 37 farmers from the Western and Central group islands, whose farms were affected by the passage of Hurricane Lorenzo in early October.
The ordinances, which will be published next week in the Official Journal, provide for an overall support amounting to more than 42 thousand Euros.
This extraordinary financial support is aimed at restoring production potential, recovering infrastructures and offsetting significant crop losses on the affected farms.
The Regional Government fulfils a commitment made, from the very first hour, to the farmers affected by the hurricane, thus minimising the consequences on their income and production potential.
Throughout this process, we should also highlight the efficiency of the technicians from the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forestry in carrying out field surveys and approving applications as well as the proper submission of applications on the part of farmers for this financial aid.
