Regional Government launches contract work for rehabilitation of Quinta de São Lourenço Manor and Chapel on Faial Island
The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forestry published today in the Official Journal the public tender for the contract work for the rehabilitation of the Manor and Chapel of Quinta de São Lourenço (estate), where the Faial Island Exhibition Park is installed.
The intervention in the two 18th century buildings has an estimated budget of more than 450 thousand Euros. It fulfils an old aspiration of Faial islanders, who had longed for the recovery of an important historical building with architectural interest.
The project includes, among other interventions, the structural reinforcement of the building, the creation of a room for exhibitions and a multipurpose space at the Manor, while the Chapel will maintain the same function.
After the intervention, it is intended that both the Manor and the Chapel contribute to the revitalisation of Quinta de São Lourenço in the village of Flamengos, municipality of Horta.
In addition to these two buildings, the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forestry intends move forward with the tender for the recovery and modernisation of the exhibition pavilion in 2019.
The project, already made public, intends to turn the exhibition pavilion, installed in an area of 1,520 square metres, into an enclosed structure. It has an estimated budget of 550 thousand Euros.
