For the second consecutive year and with the possibility of renewal every two years, the registration period for the Myosotis Azores award will be open until October 19 at http://portal.sram.azores.gov.pt.
Myosotis Azores is an award that recognises good environmental behaviour in regional tourist accommodations.
The Azores have distinguished 17 accommodations on 7 seven islands of the archipelago in 2012, the first year of implementation of this project, thus recognising their adequate environmental behaviour.
The Myosotis Azores award focuses on three main areas: saving and preservation of natural resources, training and information, and dissemination. The process begins with the registration on the website of the Myosotis award, followed by the assessment of several areas: waste, water, energy, training, information and biodiversity. At a later stage, the accommodations will be assessed in accordance with the criteria stipulated; the decision is made known to applicants. The prize is awarded when accommodation comply with the criteria and in accordance with the levels desired. This award will distinguish the environmental performance of tourist accommodations, starting from a basic environmental performance with one Myosotis flower to a level of excellence with five flowers.
Addition to saving resources, the use of common information materials produced for this purpose, internal training in the areas of environmental assessment, the possibility of gradual improvement over the year and comprehensive dissemination on the internet and regional governmental channels in the field of environment and tourism, without costs, are other advantages for the establishments distinguished with this award.
