Works amounting to 260 thousand Euros improve accessibility and water supply to farms on S. Miguel Island
The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forestry, through the Regional Institute of Agrarian Planning (IROA), published in the Official Journal the public tenders for the contract works aimed at improving accessibility and water supply to farms on São Miguel, amounting to 260 million Euros.
One of the public tenders, amounting to 165 thousand Euros, comprises the construction of the water supply network in Pico da Amêndoa Road, located in the Agrarian Planning Perimeter of Ponta Delgada Milk Basin.
This intervention includes the construction of a PVC water collector pipeline with 21 branches, which will connect the network between Charquim/Juncalinho road and Saramagal road, along the Pico the Amêndoa road.
In addition, the intervention includes the replacement of pavement in degraded areas, benefiting 11 farms in an area of about 40 hectares.
The second public tender, with a budget of 94 thousand Euros, concerns the first phase of the paving works in Eirinha Road, located in Santana/Rabo de Peixe Planning Agrarian Perimeter in the municipality of Ribeira Grande.
This project will benefit 12 farms in an area of about 70 hectares.
The work includes the placement of concrete paving in an area of about 1,932 m2, covering the most critical stretch of the path in terms of accessibility of farms.
The paving works will cover an extension of 425 metres.
The criterion for awarding both tenders will be the lowest price.
These interventions fall within a series of others already carried out or underway in the Region to provide the agricultural sector with better working conditions, thus increasing the profitability and efficiency of farms and, consequently, farmers' income.
