Works of Terceira Multisectoral Park to be completed in the last quarter of 2017, reveals João Ponte
The Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Forestry, João Ponte, announced today that the Multisector Park of Terceira Island, with a budget of 4.7 million Euros, will be concluded in the last quarter of 2017. It will create more and better conditions to boost the local economy.
"This is an important work for Terceira Island, an important work for the economy and an important work for the agricultural sector. This is a work that will ensure the appropriate conditions for the organisation of events and exhibitions in different economic activities," said João Ponte, who spoke after visiting the works that are taking place in the municipality of Angra do Heroísmo.
The Regional Government awarded the contract work in 2016 to the consortium composed of companies S.A, Somague – Ediçor Engenharia S.A and Tecnovia Açores Sociedade de Empreitadas S.A. The work falls within the Government's policy to promote endogenous products and services of the archipelago.
The multipurpose pavilion, with a covered area of 6,200 square metres, is at the final phase of construction. It will include support areas and a car park form 150 vehicles.
The contract also provides for the extension of the central promenade, the construction of roads surrounding the pavilion and their connection to the public road network, and landscape arrangements.
João Ponte also considered that this Regional Government's investment responds to the claims of Terceira Island and addresses a long-identified shortage on this island.
"The park is a space prepared to provides responses and disseminate the goods thing that the Region produces, namely on Terceira Island," said the Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Forestry. During the visit, he was accompanied by several partners from the agricultural and economic sectors as well as by local authorities.
