Powers:
The powers of SRAF are:
a) Defining regional policy in the agriculture, livestock and forestry fields, promoting and coordinating the actions required for implementation;
b) Managing and conserving forestry and plant resources, as well as uncultivated land and recreational forest reserves, except those classified as natural forest reserves;
c) Supporting economic activities related to the production, industrialisation, processing and marketing in the agricultural, livestock and forestry sectors.
The Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Forestry is responsible for:
a) Defining and ensuring the execution of regional policies that fall within the SRAF's areas of responsibility;
c) Overseeing and coordinating all SRAF activities;
b) Guiding and coordinating the bodies and services under direct control;
d) Promoting the functional cooperation of the different bodies and services of SRAF;
e) Promoting forms of cooperation, assistance and coordination of action with other public and private entities, both national or foreign.
The SRAF has the following bodies and departments to perform its mission:

Regional Council for Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development
b) Technical support:
· Planning Office
c) Instrumental support:
· Department of Administration and Finance
d) Operational services:
· Regional Directorate for Agricultural Development
· Regional Directorate for Community Agricultural Affairs
· Regional Directorate for Forest Resources
e) Autonomous institutes:
· Institute for Food and Agricultural Markets
· Regional Institute for Agricultural Planning
The bodies and departments of SRAF operate in strict cooperation and functional liaison with a view to the full implementation of regional policies aimed at achieving the respective objectives, powers and attributions, namely in regard to the common drafting of research and development projects and programmes.
