The Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Forestry chaired in Angra do Heroísmo on Wednesday afternoon the signing ceremony of the contract to award the contract work for the construction of the integrated water supply system to farms in Fonte das Ovelhas/Outeiro in the village of Agualva, Terceira.
This investment comprises the improvement of water collection in Fonte das Ovelhas spring, the construction of new reservoirs and the distribution of the integrated water supply to farms, through 140 direct lanes. These interventions will benefit 100 farms in a total area of 300 hectares.
Both reservoirs, to be built by the spring, have a total storage capacity of 600 m3.
With this intervention, the water supply system to farms is nearly concluded in the four agrarian perimeters of Terceira. The remaining interventions will be carried out to expand some supply networks, which will also coincide with the improvement of agricultural roads.
The work, with a completion period of eight months, represents an investment of 580,000 Euros.
