The Government of the Azores has granted the Institute of Technological Innovation of the Azores (INOVA) a financial support in the amount of 65,000 Euros in order to meet the technical and scientific works dedicated to Dairy products and meat production.
This governmental support is the result of the Cooperation Protocol signed between the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Forestry and INOVA in December 2010.
In an ordinance published in the Official Journal on Monday, the Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Forestry, Noé Rodrigues, justifies this investment due to the importance of the activity carried out by that non-profit organisation whose purpose is “the promotion and modernisation of the business sector of the Azores islands through the development of new products, processes and the introduction of new technologies.”
Moreover, this is an investment with “strategic importance for the dairy and meat sectors in the development of various activities associated to the primary sector” and, in this context, it is of great interest to invest in the “development of projects to implement new technologies in the agro-industrial, particularly under the SEPROQUAL - Inovação Programme in the area of dairy and meat production.”
