The incentives for the modernisation of Azorean agriculture and the reinforcement of farmers' income were the main topics of an information session held on the island of Faial on Wednesday night. The event was attended by the Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Forestry.
Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting, organised by the Faial Farmers' Association, Noé Rodrigues explained that the initiative aims to provide farmers with "detailed information" on a series of measures available in the Azores to modernise the agricultural sector.
With these initiatives, the Government intends to disseminate the incentives allocated for investments in the modernisation of farms and agricultural planning in order to "boost our quality production as well as our production capacity."
The meeting, held at the premises of Unânime Praiense Philharmonic Band in Praia do Almoxarife, also addressed the following topics: construction of agricultural infrastructures, land reparcelling, Regional Agricultural Reserve, leasing of uncultivated land, Incentive Scheme for the Purchase of Agricultural Land (RICTA), installation of young farmers, milk buying back and early retirement of farmers.
