The Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Forestry defended on Wednesday the need of increasingly promoting Azorean organic products.
Noé Rodrigues spoke at the closing session of the seminar “For a better soil,” organised by the Povoação Vocational Training School under the Eco-School Project, and highlighted the quality of organic products, considering that the region has excellent conditions for this production method.
The Regional Secretary stressed that Azorean farmers are progressively investing in this agricultural production system in order to provide fresh and authentic products that respect the natural life cycles.
Organic products are increasingly sought after in the market by the most demanding customers, thus contributing to their promotion as well as to the improvement of producers’ income.
Speaking to an audience of students from the Povoação Vocational Training School, Noé Rodrigues took the opportunity to explain the evolution of organic farming over the years, highlighting the importance of producers’ union in the approach to the markets in order to achieve greater success in their marketing.
